Whiteboard for ESL at Prakash

Jan 23, 2012 | India

The projects around Prakash always grow. The Indian “five-minutes” is always longer than anticipated.

With Bob’s coming there were some requirements he had stipulated, one being a white board.  Well, that is not as easy as it may sound.  Of course, there are shops that sell white boards, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they HAVE white boards.  Ultimately we found a shop that said, “We have one the size you require in our go-down (warehouse).”  Off the shopkeeper went with Loren hot on his tail—down some alleys (nearly getting hit by a car) to the go-down.

It’s a wonder that anything ever comes out of these storage areas undamaged.

NOW, how do we get it back to campus?  Simply tie it on top of the car.  Oh great, scratches!  “No problem, madam, we have cardboard.”

Well, picture this.  Going all the way back to campus with this 4 X 6 white board on top of the vehicle and Bob hanging on to one edge for dear life.

Now it is installed and the room cleaned and set up for students.  I mistakenly, had the curtains washed, only to find upon re-hanging them that they had shrunk about 4 inches in length.  Oh well, not much I can do about it now.  Classes start tomorrow.

Looks like a dream has come true starting tomorrow, with ESL at Prakash.
